A downloadable game

Spending any amount of time with the Vikings, one will soon encounter a ten by five grid of squares carved into some flat surface.  It can be found carved onto the rowing benches of their longships, the tables of their great halls, or even the stands of their stadiums.  This is the basis of a game so ubiquitous it is simply known as the “table game.”  Though it is often used as a way to pass the time or to bet some coins against a friend, the Vikings believe this game is a bastardised version of the game the ancient gods played.

Included here are rules for this game found everywhere in the Great Lakes in the year 2666.  A sample board is also included.  Comments, criticisms, and suggestions are greatly appreciated and can be sent to aurorafreepress@gmail.com.

This was inspired by the After the End mod and its fanfork for Crusader Kings II.  The mod can be found on Steam, the Paradox Forums, or their own subreddit.   Credit for much of the lore and themes is due to Ofaloaf, the original modder, 9Kbits, the current project leader, and the rest of the mod’s development team.
